Sharon Sevier Elected National President of the ASCA
Lafayette High School counselor Sharon Sevier has been elected as National President of the American School Counselor Association. She will take office as president-elect in October 2012. Sevier has been part of the school counselor profession for 27 years, ten in the Rockwood School District.


Eric Cochran Wins Milken Educator Award

Eric Cochran, a social studies teacher at Lindbergh High School was presented the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award and an unrestricted cash price of $25,000 in an all school assembly on Nov. 2.


Kristen Merrell Named 2011-12 Missouri Teacher of the Year

A third-grade teacher at Lee's Summit Elementary School has been selected as Missouri Teacher of the Year.  Kristen Merrell and five state finalists were honored at a banquet held Oct. 26.


Aaron Manfull Named High School Journalism Teacher of the Year

The Dow Jones News Fund has named Aaron Manfull of Francis Howell North High School, St. Charles, Mo., the 2011 National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year. He advises the award-winning news magazine North Star, FHNtoday.com, yearbook, broadcast and the Quill and Scroll Honor Society chapter. 


Wendy Brownell Nominated for National Language Teacher of the Year

Wendy Brownell, a Spanish teacher at Camdenton High School, has been selected as the 2011 recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award given by the Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.  She is now one of five finalists for the National Language Teacher of the Year Award to be awarded by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in November.  Wendy also was the 2010 recipient of the Distinguished Educator Award given by the Foreign Language Association of Missouri.
