HealthierUS School Challenge
The HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) is a voluntary initiative established in 2004 to recognize those schools participating in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity. In October 2009, USDA announced the expansion of HeathierUS School Challenge to include secondary schools. Team Nutrition schools can apply for one of the four award levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold or Gold of Distinction.
To date, 48 schools in Missouri have received an award from the HealthierUS School Challenge.
To qualify, schools must meet nutrition standards, minimum average daily participation levels, and nutrition education and physical activity requirements.
Schools wishing to apply for an award can find more information and the online application tool located on the Food and Nutrition Service Team Nutrition website.
