Master's Degree in School Psychology from an
accredited college or university.
Meet
state certification for School Psychologist.
Knowledge of psychological
and educational tests, test procedures, interpretation, presentation of
findings, and report writing.
Knowledge
of counseling techniques. Ability to diagnose problems and personal, education and sometimes
vocational needs of students. Skilled at establishing
trust and rapport with students.
Ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and
parents. Assist with problem
solving.
Awareness
of current informational needs of staff.
Training in
behavior modification techniques.
Ability to
work effectively as one of a team.
Knowledge
of available resources, outside services and other programs.
Must meet
the required American Sign Language competency level of Advanced.
EXAMPLES OF
WORK PERFORMED
(The incumbent must have the ability to perform the
essential functions below either with or without reasonable accommodation.)
Plans, conducts and reports results of psychological
evaluations of prospective students and local school districts’ students.
Provides individual and group counseling to students
based on persona and/or educational counseling when indicated or requested.
Consults with administrators, teachers, dormitory and
nursing staff as needed.
Plans and/or participates in in–service programs for
staff.
Works in conjunction with members of
the IEP team to develop behavior management plans. Coordinates implementing and
monitoring of these programs.
Attends staffing and evaluation team
meetings for individual students.
Assists with determining needs and devises strategies for remediation or
treatment of behavioral and academic problems.
Refers students to other personnel
or agencies for services when necessary.
Performs related duties as assigned.

VACATION: Generally accrue 5.25 hours per pay
period for new employees.
SICK LEAVE: Generally accrue 5.25 hours per pay period.
FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE: After 12 months or 1250 hours of
employment, 12 weeks of unpaid leave is available for employees as laid out in
the policy.
ORGAN/BONE MARROW DONATION LEAVE: 5 workdays given for bone marrow donation
and 30 workdays given for organ donation.
SCHOOL-VISIT LEAVE: Up to 8 hours of paid leave for assisting
in the classroom with curricular activities or visiting with child’s teacher on
curricular activities and other events as outlined in the policy.
HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays per year.
RETIREMENT: Vested after five years of creditable service.
LIFE INSURANCE: Free basic life insurance coverage equal to one-times
the employee's annual salary. The minimum coverage amount will
remain $15,000.
OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE: Employee may purchase up to 6 times their annual
salary. Spouse and children life insurance coverage is
available.
CAFETERIA PLAN: Easy tax savings on employee’s cost for qualified payroll-deducted
insurance plans, medical care, and dependent care.
HEALTH PLANS: Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the first of the
following month after employment.
DENTAL PLANS: Delta Dental insurance coverage is available.
VISION PLAN: Vision Service Plan (VSP) is available.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Up to six counseling visits per
episode per family member per year.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Employees may enroll in the State of
Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan at beginning of employment with a minimum
of $25 per month. After 12
continuous months of employment State service the

Fulton is a city of approximately 12,500 people
located in central Missouri. The
community is the county seat of Callaway County and is situated approximately
twenty-five miles north of Jefferson City and east of Columbia. Callaway County
(Fulton in particular) was named the Fourth Best Place to Live in Rural America
by Progressive Farmer, Inc. magazine.
Fulton is fortunate to have a four-year liberal arts
college and a university - Westminster College and William Woods University. Westminster is also the site of the Winston
Churchill Memorial, the site of Sir Winston Churchill’s 1946 Iron Curtain
speech, and the 1990 sculpture “Break Through” created from eight sections of
the Berlin Wall.
The community has three major state institutions -
Missouri School for the Deaf, Fulton State Hospital, and the Fulton Diagnostic
Center. Fulton State Hospital and the
Missouri School for the Deaf are the oldest institutions of their kind west of
the Mississippi River.
The employment population of Fulton is primarily made
up of professional and service personnel employed by the higher education
institutions, state institutions, retail and light industry located within the
city. An additional major employer is
the Union Electric Callaway Nuclear Power Plant located ten miles from the
city.
