QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS

following.)
Master's degree in Library Science and an elementary or secondary teaching
certificate, emphasis on technology preferred. A minimum of
three years of library management, instructional technology integration, and
program development experience. The candidate must have excellent
written and oral communication skills and have the ability to work with a
wide-variety of people from varying backgrounds and locations. The candidate should have experience in
presentations and professional development.
The applicant must have a thorough knowledge of the field of library science, instructional technology and integration, teaching and learning, information access and delivery, long-term planning and program administration, for grades preK-12. Experience presenting information to groups is essential.
Provides content expertise, technical assistance, publications, and procedures for the development and implementation of preK-12 library programs and instructional technology programs, grant applications, and the integration of information, technology, and media literacy skills into the curricula.
Provides technical assistance and leadership for the development/refinement of library standards, technology planning, copyright, Census of Technology, Core Data collection (screens 7, 30, 31), facility arrangement, collection development, technology integration, funding, and information, technology, and media literacy.
Organizes and conducts professional development for librarians, teachers, technology coordinators, and others in the implementation of various strategies for teaching and evaluating information, technology, and media literacy, integrating technology into the curricula, the findings of the Show-Me Connection, and evaluating technology and/or library programs.
Provides leadership, collaborates, and acts as a liaison to the State Library, MASL, and the state library coordinator’s group, higher-education library education program directors encouraging collaboration, team-work, consistency in requirements, and technology integration.
Provides leadership and collaborates with the Certification Section and Educator Preparation Section in regards to library/media/technology certifications.
Communicates informally and formally with the educators of the state (newsletters, emails, letters, etc.)
Helps educators interpret and implement legislative requirements pertaining to instructional technology and library programs.
Participates in the Missouri School Improvement Program and A+ Designation review process and serves on other types of review teams as appropriate.
Creates and maintains library media center web pages.
Contributes articles and edits the monthly edition of Newsline.
Proficient in MicroSoft software products.
Assists the Directors and Coordinators of Instructional Technology and Curriculum Services.
Performs other duties as assigned.

BENEFITS
(For a Full-Time Position)
VACATION: Generally accrue 10 hours
per month for employees with up to ten years of creditable service.
SICK LEAVE:
Generally accrue 10 hours per month.
FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE: After 12 months or 1250 hours of employment, 12 weeks of
unpaid leave is available for employees as laid out in the policy.
ORGAN/BONE MARROW DONATION LEAVE: 5 workdays given for bone marrow donation and 30 workdays
given for organ donation.
SCHOOL-VISIT LEAVE: Up to 8 hours of paid leave for assisting in the classroom
with curricular activities or visiting with child’s teacher on curricular
activities and other events as outlined in the policy.
HOLIDAYS: 12
holidays per year.
RETIREMENT: Vested
after five years of creditable service.
LIFE INSURANCE:
Free basic life insurance coverage equal to one-times the employee's
annual salary. The minimum coverage amount will remain $15,000.
OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE:
Employee may purchase up to 6 times their annual
salary. Spouse and children life insurance coverage is
available.
HEALTH PLANS:
Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the month after employment.
DENTAL PLANS:
Several plans are available in limited areas of the state. Employees may
pay through a payroll deduction.
VISION PLAN:
Available statewide. Employees may pay through payroll deduction.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Up to six counseling visits per episode per family
member per year.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: If employee contributes a minimum of $25 per month
towards the State of
