Definition:  This is a 12-month non-exempt position responsible for managing daily activities of all custodians employed by the school.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS
(Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education
meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the following.)

 

  1. High School diploma or GED certificate.
  2. Team leader and supervisory experience or similar work experience.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

  1. Coordinates work with each division concerning tasks to be performed, scheduling of custodians, and area or custodian needs.  Ensures that all work areas are cleaned.
  2. Plans, organizes, directs, and follows up on all custodial work performed.  Directly supervises each custodian, defines standards, and evaluates performance.
  3. Solves problems such as those caused by illness or termination of custodial workers, poor performance and/or other personal/organizational issues.  Receives assistance from Business Manager as needed.
  4. Performs all functions assigned to custodial workers; trains and assists custodial workers as required.
  5. Determines needs and budgets for equipment used by custodians.  Ensures that adequate supplies are available for custodians.  Coordinates on budgeting with Business Manager.
  6. Ensures the continuity of custodial work throughout summer months; ensures action to meet special needs of school administration.
  7. Coordinates recycling program for various trash items.
  8. Performs related work as assigned.

 

BENEFITS
(For a Full-Time Position)

VACATION: Generally accrue 10 hours per month for employees with up to ten years of creditable service.  

SICK LEAVE:  Generally accrue 10 hours per month.

FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE:  After 12 months or 1250 hours of employment, 12 weeks of unpaid leave is available for employees as laid out in the policy.

ORGAN/BONE MARROW DONATION LEAVE:  5 workdays given for bone marrow donation and 30 workdays given for organ donation. 

SCHOOL-VISIT LEAVE:  Up to 8 hours of paid leave for assisting in the classroom with curricular activities or visiting with child’s teacher on curricular activities and other events as outlined in the policy.

HOLIDAYS:  12 holidays per year.

RETIREMENT:  Vested after five years of creditable service.

LIFE INSURANCE:  Free basic life insurance coverage equal to one-times the employee's annual salary.  The minimum coverage amount will remain $15,000.

OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE:  Employee may purchase up to 6 times their annual salary.  Spouse and children life insurance coverage is available.

HEALTH PLANS:  Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the month after employment.

DENTAL PLANS:  Several plans are available in limited areas of the state. Employees may pay through a payroll deduction.

VISION PLAN:  Available statewide.  Employees may pay through payroll deduction.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:  Up to six counseling visits per episode per family member per year.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION:  If employee contributes a minimum of $25 per month towards the State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan, then the State will contribute an additional $25 per month to eligible employees after 12 continuous months of employment.
