QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS

Bachelor's degree required. Master's
degree preferred, with a major in family and consumer sciences education from
an accredited college or university.
Three years of experience as a teacher of family and consumer sciences
education.
Extensive knowledge of the field of family and consumer sciences education.
Thorough knowledge of the principles, modern teaching methods, practices and current trends in family and consumer sciences education; and curriculum planning as applied to family and consumer sciences education.
Ability to encourage the use of new teaching methods, technology and new curriculum materials as applied to family and consumer sciences education; relate positively to people and work effectively with youth and adults, and to lead conferences and workshops with professional personnel; analyze and effectively apply evaluation standards to family and consumer sciences education programs; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and establish effective working relationships with local school officials and associates.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
PERFORMED
Assists in the development and coordination of projects resulting in quality curriculum materials and resources for instructors of family and consumer sciences education at all levels.
Serves as the Division Career Cluster leader for Hospitality and Tourism and assists local hospitality and culinary arts programs at the secondary and postsecondary levels. Serves as the Division contact for the Missouri ProStart Program and coordinates the annual Culinary Arts STAR Event state competition.
Performs professional and administrative functions involved as liaison to the Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences and the organization’s board of directors.
Plans, coordinates, and implements professional development opportunities for pre-service and practicing teachers of family and consumer sciences programs to include an annual statewide inservice conference and several regional inservice workshops.
Reviews and approves new family and consumer sciences program proposals and provides technical assistance as needed to districts with new and existing family and consumer sciences programs.
Reviews and approves grant awards to family and consumer sciences programs for program improvement. Monitors grants and provides technical assistance to local recipients as needed.
Serves on Missouri School Improvement Program Review teams.
Performs other duties as assigned.

BENEFITS
(For a Full-Time Position)
VACATION: Generally accrue 10 hours
per month for employees with up to ten years of creditable service.
SICK LEAVE:
Generally accrue 10 hours per month.
FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE: After 12 months or 1250 hours of employment, 12 weeks of
unpaid leave is available for employees as laid out in the policy.
ORGAN/BONE MARROW DONATION LEAVE: 5 workdays given for bone marrow donation and 30 workdays
given for organ donation.
SCHOOL-VISIT LEAVE: Up to 8 hours of paid leave for assisting in the classroom
with curricular activities or visiting with child’s teacher on curricular activities
and other events as outlined in the policy.
HOLIDAYS: 12
holidays per year.
RETIREMENT:
Vested after five years of creditable service.
LIFE INSURANCE:
Free basic life insurance coverage equal to one-times the employee's
annual salary. The minimum coverage amount will remain $15,000.
OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE:
Employee may purchase up to 6 times their annual
salary. Spouse and children life insurance coverage is
available.
HEALTH PLANS:
Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the first of the following month after
employment.
DENTAL PLANS: Delta
Dental insurance coverage is available.
VISION PLAN: Vision
Service Plan (VSP) is available.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Up to six counseling visits per episode per family
member per year.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Employees may enroll in the State of
