Graduation from high school.  Five years of experience successfully performing progressively responsible support tasks.

 

Successful experience performing data management and analysis work.

 

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software (especially Access and Excel) and other business equipment.

 

Considerable knowledge and skill in information systems management including developing and interpreting computer generated documents and files.

 

Ability to identify and help solve problems within the Section’s data systems and to integrate information from program staff to help design or re-design the programs to be more accurate and useful.

 

Maintain effective working relationships with Department staff, other state and local agencies, school districts, and the public.

 

Work in an organized manner with data and systems management.

 

Develop a thorough understanding of the classification program, assessment program and various State and Federal programs.

 

Ability to communicate with others effectively in writing.

 

Exceptional math and analytical skills.

 

Create and maintain Web pages.

 

Exceptional organization skills.

 

Ability to work with a variety of people and personalities in a professional manner in multiple forums.

 

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

 

Suggest and implement strategies for data collection, dissemination and analysis.

 

Synthesize data from section applications to prepare statistical reports.

 

Analyze data from various sources in order to look for trends, themes, and areas of strength or concern.

 

Produce and interpret queries, statistical and other reports as needed by division staff, other sections, other agencies, the legislature and the general public.

 

Evaluate statistical data to establish norms to determine compliance with regulations and/or policies.

 

Communicate with district personnel, assisting them with Web applications, interpreting rules and instructions for the submission and updating of data.

 

Enter data into databases, Web, and/or mainframe applications.

 

Retrieve data from database, Web, and/or mainframe applications in order to prepare statistical reports.

 

Request and/or receive data from external sources.

 

Complete necessary documents and forms to receive computerized data for analysis.

 

Compare statistical data to establish norms to determine compliance with regulations and/or policies.

 

Prepare correspondence in order to communicate results of analysis.

 

Create queries and reports in order to retrieve data from databases, Web and or mainframe applications.

 

Create and maintain spreadsheets in order to facilitate analyses and/or track information.

 

Provide technical assistance regarding the Missouri Assessment Program to co-workers and clients.

 

Provide training for staff.

 

Answer telephone in order to route calls to appropriate person or take messages.

 

Schedule appointments for section staff.

 

Create statistical and other reports utilizing data generated from database and/or mainframe application.

 

Design and compile very detailed, complex reports of data from multiple databases into a polished, final product used for high-level decision-making.

 

Review reports compiled by other staff members to ensure accuracy of data.

 

Create and evaluate technical documents to support the Missouri Assessment Program.

 

Maintain Web pages.

 

Coordinate meetings and events.

 

Other duties as assigned.

BENEFITS
(For a Full-Time Position)

VACATION: Generally accrue 10 hours per month for employees with up to ten years of creditable service.  

SICK LEAVE:  Generally accrue 10 hours per month.

FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE:  After 12 months or 1250 hours of employment, 12 weeks of unpaid leave is available for employees as laid out in the policy.

ORGAN/BONE MARROW DONATION LEAVE:  5 workdays given for bone marrow donation and 30 workdays given for organ donation. 

SCHOOL-VISIT LEAVE:  Up to 8 hours of paid leave for assisting in the classroom with curricular activities or visiting with child’s teacher on curricular activities and other events as outlined in the policy.

HOLIDAYS:  12 holidays per year.

RETIREMENT:  Vested after five years of creditable service.

LIFE INSURANCE:  Free basic life insurance coverage equal to one-times the employee's annual salary.  The minimum coverage amount will remain $15,000.

OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE:  Employee may purchase up to 6 times their annual salary.  Spouse and children life insurance coverage is available.

HEALTH PLANS:  Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the month after employment.

DENTAL PLANS:  Several plans are available in limited areas of the state. Employees may pay through a payroll deduction.

VISION PLAN:  Available statewide.  Employees may pay through payroll deduction.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:  Up to six counseling visits per episode per family member per year.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION:  If employee contributes a minimum of $25 per month towards the State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan, then the State will contribute an additional $25 per month to eligible employees after 12 continuous months of employment.
