QUALIFICATIONS DESIRABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS

meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the following.)


Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Institutional Food Management.

 

Two years of experience in a related position preferred.

 

Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

 

Extensive knowledge of foods and nutrition.

 

Extensive business math skills and knowledge of accounting principles.

 

Knowledge of Child Nutrition Programs operations and Nutrition Education activities.

 

Ability to recognize program deficiencies and irregularities and recommend methods of correction.

 

Ability to recognize program needs and provide competent and effective assistance to LEAs and food service directors/managers relative to problems of marketing, purchasing, menu development, computerized nutrient analysis’ and storage of foods; selection, purchase, placement, and care of equipment; maintenance of accounts, records, and reports.

 

Capable of effective public relations including the conduct of meetings and workshops related to Child Nutrition Program operations.

 

Ability to communicate and express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.

 

Travel is required with expenses reimbursed at the approved rate.

 

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

 

Monitoring and conducting Local Education Agency (LEA) on-site reviews of the National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Special Milk, After School Snack, and Donated Food Programs.

 

Makes on-site visits at LEAs to conduct program reviews and evaluations of Child Nutrition Programs.

 

Compiles detailed written reports on results of LEA on-site program reviews.

 

Assists in the development and presentation of training programs for LEA Child Nutrition Program management personnel and cooks.

 

Assists LEAs in conducting computerized nutrient analysis evaluation of menus.

 

Assists with review of Departmental office records on individual LEA programs as a means of detecting program deficiencies and problems.

 

Provides consultative services to teachers, administrators, and LEA Child Nutrition Program managers.

 

Assists with the review and approval of LEA Child Nutrition application/ agreements.

 

Assist with the review and correction of LEA Child Nutrition Program reports of annual income and expenditures and program balances.

 

Other duties as assigned.

BENEFITS
(For a Full-Time Position)

VACATION: Generally accrue 10 hours per month for employees with up to ten years of creditable service.  

SICK LEAVE:  Generally accrue 10 hours per month.

FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE:  After 12 months or 1250 hours of employment, 12 weeks of unpaid leave is available for employees as laid out in the policy.

ORGAN/BONE MARROW DONATION LEAVE:  5 workdays given for bone marrow donation and 30 workdays given for organ donation. 

SCHOOL-VISIT LEAVE:  Up to 8 hours of paid leave for assisting in the classroom with curricular activities or visiting with child’s teacher on curricular activities and other events as outlined in the policy.

HOLIDAYS:  12 holidays per year.

RETIREMENT:  Vested after five years of creditable service.

LIFE INSURANCE:  Free basic life insurance coverage equal to one-times the employee's annual salary.  The minimum coverage amount will remain $15,000.

OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE:  Employee may purchase up to 6 times their annual salary.  Spouse and children life insurance coverage is available.

CAFETERIA PLAN:  Easy tax savings on employee’s cost for qualified payroll-deducted insurance plans, medical care, and dependent care.

HEALTH PLANS:  Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the first of the following month after employment.

DENTAL PLANS:  Delta Dental insurance coverage is available.

VISION PLAN:  Vision Service Plan (VSP) is available. 

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:  Up to six counseling visits per episode per family member per year.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION:  Employees may enroll in the State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan at beginning of employment with a minimum of $25 per month.  After 12 continuous months of employment State service the State will contribute an additional $25 per month to eligible employees.
