QUALIFICATIONS DESIRABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS
(Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education
meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the following.)

 

High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate.

Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

 

This position involves skilled and semi-skilled work in several of the building and mechanical trades for repairing and maintaining buildings and equipment.  Assignments are received in the form of oral or written work orders and may be accompanied by sketches, penciled layouts, or blueprints.  The work may be performed independently, subject to inspection while in progress and upon completion or may be performed under the guidance of a supervisor or other superior.  Other duties include but are not limited to:

 

1.  Observe and evaluate condition of buildings and equipment.

2.  Read and interpret plans, blueprints, sketches, and specifications.

3.  Estimate man-hours, material, and equipment necessary for maintenance and/or repair jobs.

4.  Keep records and prepare reports.

5.  Perform hands on maintenance and repair work on an individual basis to include lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces and at heights, wearing a respirator and other protective equipment, and operating construction equipment.

A.    Install and repair steam lines, steam traps, valves, water pumps, electric generators, air compressors and fireplugs.

B.     Maintain steam boilers and power plant equipment.

C.     Perform basic carpentry, painting and plastering.

D.    Repair and/or replace doors, windows, locks, and furniture.

E.     Maintain and repair electric wiring and equipment.

6.  Participate in installing, repairing and making adjustments to air conditioning, heating and ventilating equipment.

7.  Requisition supplies and material needed.

8.  Implement planned preventive maintenance and repair program.

9.  Plan and lay out work, and keep a record of amounts of materials used.

10.          Perform related tasks as assigned.

 

BENEFITS
(For a Full-Time Position)

VACATION: Generally accrue 10 hours per month for employees with up to ten years of creditable service.  

SICK LEAVE:  Generally accrue 10 hours per month.

FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE:  After 12 months or 1250 hours of employment, 12 weeks of unpaid leave is available for employees as laid out in the policy.

ORGAN/BONE MARROW DONATION LEAVE:  5 workdays given for bone marrow donation and 30 workdays given for organ donation. 

SCHOOL-VISIT LEAVE:  Up to 8 hours of paid leave for assisting in the classroom with curricular activities or visiting with child’s teacher on curricular activities and other events as outlined in the policy.

HOLIDAYS:  12 holidays per year.

RETIREMENT:  Vested after five years of creditable service.

LIFE INSURANCE:  Free basic life insurance coverage equal to one-times the employee's annual salary.  The minimum coverage amount will remain $15,000.

OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE:  Employee may purchase up to 6 times their annual salary.  Spouse and children life insurance coverage is available.

HEALTH PLANS:  Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the month after employment.

DENTAL PLANS:  Several plans are available in limited areas of the state. Employees may pay through a payroll deduction.

VISION PLAN:  Available statewide.  Employees may pay through payroll deduction.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:  Up to six counseling visits per episode per family member per year.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION:  Employees may enroll in the State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan at anytime during employment with a minimum of $25 per month.
