Workforce Investment Act

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) was signed into law on August 7, 1998, with the purpose to create a national workforce preparation and employment system that meets the needs of job seekers and those seeking to advance their careers, as well as, the employment needs of the nation’s businesses. The authorization for WIA programs expired on September 30, 2003, although annual appropriations have continued funding until reauthorized.
