Secondary Certification


Postsecondary and Adult Certification
Postsecondary and adult instructors may be PC1 or career education certificated. For instructors not having a PC1 the following requirements apply:

I.   General Requirements:
     A. B.S. Degree in Specialty Areas.
II.  Professional Requirements:
      A. Career Education - Eight (8) semester hours minimum.
           1. Program Development
           2. Curriculum Construction; and
           3. Teaching Methods.
III. Special Conditions:
      A. Three (3) years work experience in the specialty area; and
      B. Five (5) year certificate is renewable upon verification of eight (8) additional hours completed in career education.

To Receive An Initial Five (5) Year Career Education Certificate

I.   Candidates must submit the following to:
     A. Agricultural Education Section
          1. Completed V Application
     B. Professional Conduct & Investigations Section
          1. Criminal History Background Check Packet (two sets of completed fingerprint cards).
          2. Bank draft (cashier's check, certified check) or money order for $38.00 made payable to "Treasurer - State of  Missouri" (must accompany criminal history background check packet)
          3. $25.00 fee for out-of-state applicants (Bank draft or money order made payable to "Treasurer - State of Missouri").

Several federal and state programs require that participants wanting training must attend training institutions that have been approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  Public and private schools and training institutions wanting to be approved as eligible training providers in the State of Missouri must submit an application.
