Community Education

Welcome!
Community Education has been a part of the public
education arena for many years. The State of Missouri has boasted such
initiatives since the early 1970s. Indeed, some aspects of Community
Education have existed in Missouri since it became a state. People of
Missouri have always been responsive to the needs of the community.
However, it has been within the last decade that the true meaning and
benefits of the concept have been realized.
The mission of Community Education is to provide opportunities for people in a community to improve their quality of life without regard to age, sex, race, color, national origin, religious preference, disability, or handicapped condition. Community Education emphasizes increased involvement of parents, businesses, and community members with the local public school system and lifelong learning.
