OFFICER ELECTIONS

Member commitment and involvement are vital to the health of any organization.  Taking a leadership role beyond the chapter level provides students opportunities for improving leadership skills, personal growth, meeting new people, travel and involvement, being a spokesperson for FCCLA and helping the organization reach its goals.  Members wishing to run for regional, state and/or national office must be enthusiastic, knowledgeable about FCCLA, energetic, innovative, futuristic and must also be committed to the organization. 

Each family and consumer sciences program should receive information on regional screening procedures and deadlines from the regional president and advisors.  Questions regarding regional elections should be directed to them.

REGIONAL ELECTIONS PROCEDURES

The usage of the phrase "State Bylaws" refers to Missouri Association Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Bylaws, Revised 2002.The usage of the term "chapter" refers to affiliated FCCLA chapters.  Affiliated means paying all regional, state and national dues by the required affiliation deadlines.

State Bylaws, Article V, Section 6C states that "Regional associations will follow the regional elections procedures as determined by the State Executive Council."  It is expected that all regional presidents will implement the following procedures as approved by the State Executive Council.


CAMPAIGNING POLICY - STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Campaigning, which includes but is not limited to, soliciting/asking for votes and distribution or posting of printed materials in support of the candidate or bearing the candidate's name, including brochures and business cards, shall not be allowed by state president, national officer, and national network member candidates or their supporters.

If a member or chapter advisor of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America feels than an officer candidate has violated this policy, such violation must be reported, in writing, to the headquarters room at the state leadership conference.  Alleged violations must be reported prior to the close of the voting process.  This allegation will be investigated by the members of the State Executive Council and State Advisor and may lead to disqualification.  The decision to disqualify shall be a majority vote of the State Executive Council members in attendance.

Candidates currently serving as State Executive Council members shall not participate in the investigation or vote.  The decision of the State Executive Council and State Advisor is final.  In the event of the disqualification of all state president candidates, the 2008-2009 State Executive Council will appoint a 2009-2010 President and 1st Vice President with approval of the State Advisor.  Appointment will be by majority vote. 

In the event of the disqualification of all national officer or national network member candidates, these positions will remain vacant.  Disqualified candidates shall remain a member of their respective regional executive councils.
