It's not too late to register for the 2013-2014 Math in CTE training. This is an excellent opportunity for you to collaborate with your local high school math teacher to identify content where math naturally intersects with career education concepts and application. You will work together to design lessons and, most likely, will find that this type of collaboration enhances instruction in CTE and mathematics classroom. This opportunity is limited to 15 teams, so register soon!
National Consortium for Health Science Education (NCHSE) is a national partnership of individuals and organizations with a vested interest in health science education. The consortium was organized in 1991 to stimulate creative and innovative leadership for ensuring a well prepared healthcare workforce. Missouri is a member of the NCHSE Consortium and has representation on their Board of Directors.
The National Health Science Assessment and Certification Program
The National Health Science Assessment is based on the National Healthcare Foundation Standards and Accountability Criteria. This assessment is available via an online testing system that provides both pre- and post-testing opportunities and reporting services. It has been approved as a TSA for both Perkins and MSIP 5 reporting.
Eligible students who successfully pass this online assessment will obtain a certificate issued by NCHSE.
The Health Science Instructional Supplements
The Instructional Supplements were developed by the NCHSE to help health science teachers align classroom instruction to the National Healthcare Foundation Standards. Accountability criteria have been established for each foundation standard to better define the expectations for meeting the standard and to provide content for curriculum design and measurement and certification of achievement. These health science instructional materials were designed as a resource supplement, to be used in conjunction with state curriculum resources, plans, and outlines; as well as textbooks and the resources that accompany those textbooks. The supplements are not designed to "stand alone" but rather to provide resources that complement the instructional tools that teachers are already using.
Discount on NCHSE products
Missouri's status as a member of the NCHSE consortium means schools receive a discount on the assessment and other products developed and available through NCHSE. Be sure to request the state discount prior to ordering materials.
