(Tech Prep) |
The Perkins IV legislation
allows states to roll the tech prep funds in to the basic
grant or keep it separate. On December 12, a group of area
career center directors, community college deans, and tech
prep coordinators (selected by their peers) met with staff
in the Division of Career Education to decide whether
Missouri should keep the funds separate or roll the funds
into the basic grant. The committee voted to keep Missouri's
tech prep funding separate for the transition year, the
2007-08 school year. The tech prep coordinators will
identify 3-4 goals for which to focus on that are related to
Perkins IV. Billie Walkenbach and Kyle Heislen will work
with the tech prep coordinators to identify the 3-4 goals.
Additionally, the 2007-08 tech prep funds will not be
distributed on a competitive grant basis. After the Perkins
IV guidelines are released from the Office of Vocational and
Adult Education the end of January, we will meet again to
review the guidelines and begin planning for the following
5-years. |
