The
Chairman shall preside at meetings of the State of Missouri
Service-Learning Advisory Council. S/he shall likewise serve
as
chairperson of the Executive Committee. S/he shall oversee
all
standing committees. There shall also be a Student Chairman
nominated to represent the student voice and interests. The
Student
Chairman will work with the Chairman.
The
Vice-Chairman shall serve in the absence of the Chairman, s/he
shall preside at meetings and designate another person to be
parliamentarian. The Vice-Chairman will assume the position
of
Chairman at the end of his/her term as Vice-Chairman.
The
Secretary shall prepare an official record of the proceedings of
the Executive Committee and of the State of Missouri Service-
Learning Advisory Council. An official copy of all council
actions,
records, and meeting minutes shall be kept in the Missouri
Service-
Learning office in Jefferson City, Missouri. The Missouri
Service-
Learning office will distribute the Council actions, records,
and
meeting minutes in a timely manner to all members.
The
Executive Committee shall be made up of the Chairman, the
Student Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, the Past Chair,
Committee Chairs and the Supervisor of Missouri
Service-Learning
(DESE). A call for self-submissions and nominations to the
positions
of Vice-Chairman and Secretary will be submitted to the
Executive
Committee in March of each year. The Executive Committee will
then
submit a slate of nominations to council. Positions shall be
voted on
by the Council and passed by a simple majority at the annual
spring
meeting in May. The Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Secretary
positions are two-year positions. All members shall serve a
minimum
of one year on the general advisory council before qualifying
as am
officer.
The
State of Missouri Service-Learning Advisory Council shall be
made up of, but not limited to, K-16 educators, students,
education
representatives, and members of community organizations and
national service groups.
Standing
committee chairs shall be nominated by self-submission
and nominations, and appointed for one year by the Council
Chairman.
To
be considered a member in good standing, a member shall attend
no less than 75% of the State of Missouri Service-Learning
Advisory
Council meetings. Any member not in good standing may not by
appointed to the Executive Committee for the following year.
