NEWS AND UPDATES
Spring 2012 District Self-Monitoring Quality Assurance
As part of the Department’s Quality Assurance (QA) process this year, we are continuing the district QA self-monitoring tool for the spring of 2012. This form is designed to be used by District Test Coordinators (DTCs) as part of their regular supervision process throughout the assessment window. DTCs should complete this form twice during the Spring 2012 assessment window – once for one Grade-Level classroom and once for one End-of-Course classroom. If you are a K-8 district, please complete this form for two Grade-Level classrooms.

One pre-recorded webinar is geared towards DTCs and STCs, but is useful for any district personnel that has a part in test administration. The second pre-recorded webinar is meant for test examiners.

END-OF-COURSE RESOURCES
ABOUT THE ASSESSMENT
The Missouri Assessment Program assesses students’ progress toward mastery of the Show-Me Standards which are the educational standards in Missouri. The Missouri Assessment Program includes required End-of-Course assessments in the subject areas of Algebra I, Biology, English II and Government. Additional End-of-Course assessments are available at no charge to the district in American History, English I, Algebra II and Geometry. End-of-Course assessments are taken when a student has received instruction on the course-level expectations for an assessment, regardless of grade level. For the 2011-2012 school year, all EOC assessments are available only online. (Unless a Braille, Large Print or Paper/Pencil form is needed.)
Who takes the EOC Assessments?
Students in Missouri, including Missouri Option Program students, are required to take the Algebra I, Biology, English II and Government assessments. A few groups of students may be exempt from certain End-of-Course assessments. These include, but are not limited to:
- Students whose IEP teams have determined that the MAP-A is the appropriate assessment do not have to take End-of-Course assessments.
- English Language Learners (ELL) who have been in the United States 12 months or fewer at the time of administration may be exempted from taking the English II and/or English I assessments.
- Foreign exchange students are allowed, but are not required to take the assessments. This is a district decision.
- Home schooled students may take part in the assessment at the local district's discretion.
- Private school students are not required to take the End-of-Course assessments.

Performance Events and Writing Prompts suspended
Due to unprecedented budget constraints, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is reluctantly suspending the administration and scoring of the Grade-Level and End-of-Course Performance Events and Writing Prompt assessments for the 2010-2011 and the 2011-2012 administration years.
