Students will apply decoding strategy of “chunking” to problem-solve unknown words when reading.  R1C

R1C, R1E:  The student will be able to develop and apply strategies to problem solve unknown words when reading grade-level text, such as:  affixes and roots. 

 

Students will be able to apply the decoding strategy of breaking an unknown word into syllables to problem solve the grade-level text word. R1C, R1E

Students will during reading, utilize strategies to self-question, infer visually, and predict.  R1G

R1G:  The student will be able to develop and apply reading comprehension strategies to self-question, correct, and clarify. 

 

Students will be able to utilize the reading comprehension strategy of visualization.  R1G

Students will select and use an appropriate method for note taking and summarize two or more articles and write a brief informational paper integrating supporting information from both sources.  W3B, W3D       

W3B, W3D:  The student will be able to routinely summarize information clearly and concisely in a multi-paragraph text using an appropriate method for note-taking.
