Part I

Teacher note:  Select a new scene from an appropriate film, keeping your testing time frame in mind.  If you haven’t shown the entire film of The Odyssey, you might elect to use a scene for the summative assessment.  The scene should contain appropriate music, setting, lighting effects, and costuming for the students to analyze.  You may need to show the scene more than once for the students.

Prompt:  Using the Viewing Log graphic organizer, record notes about two of the following elements from the film: the music, the setting, the lighting effects, or the costuming.  Explain the effects of both elements on the mood of the film.  Use one detail and/or example for each element to support your response.
