Summative Assessment

1a. Find four unknown words from a passage provided. Complete the graphic organizer by writing the words down with a definition and identify the context clues that helped determine the definition.

1b. Add the following prefixes or suffixes to the underlined word to make each sentence correct: re-means again; pre-means before; un-means not; est-means most; less-means without; ful-means full of.

The plants from the science lab were being planted in the flowerbed in front of the school. The students were joy about getting out of class for the day. Ms. Bright was the happy about the lovely weather on this workday. The sun was shining and the sky was cloud. It was believable for it to be such a pretty day in March. The day was destined to be a wonderful event.

2. Read the article or editorial and provide examples of the four during reading strategies used. Visualization must include a written explanation.

3. In the space below, record relevant information using an organized note-taking method to be used for a multi-paragraph summary of article or editorial. Use any method of note-taking or organizational strategy used recently in class.

4. Write a multi-paragraph summary of the passage using the information organized and gathered through the selected note-taking strategy on the previous page. Use details and/or relevant information from the passage to support the summary.

5. View three of the following media and complete a graphic organizer recording relevant information to identify and explain techniques used to convey messages in media.
