4 points:  Provides an example of a symbolism used by the poet and explains an appropriate meaning.  Clearly explains the symbolism to the context of the poem.

3 points:   Provides an example of a symbolism used by the poet and partially explains an acceptable meaning to the context of the poem.

2 points:   Provides an example with a minimal explanation of an acceptable meaning.

1 point:     Provides an example but meaning is incorrect and little, if any, explanation is given
