FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT 

The completed friendship bracelet is uses as the assessment.  A two-point scoring guide is used for the assessment.

1.        Students name situations where following directions is important. Ask what happens when someone doesn’t follow directions in cooking or changing the oil in a car. Students relate personal experiences citing examples of when following directions went wrong.

Friendships aren’t perfect.

 

2.        Show the basic instructions for making friendship bracelets on an overhead and lead a student discussion. Ask students to identify potential problems if the directions are not clear or are not carefully followed.

3.        Give students the instructions for making a candy striper friendship bracelet (or a bracelet that fits your time frame), tape, and the colored string. Instruct students to follow the directions. Students accomplish as much as they can in class. The bracelet is completed as homework or the art teacher could help.
