FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT

Students will point out nonfiction text features of a later chapter of the text and explain why they are helpful to the reader.  (Assess in step 5 of Learning Activities.)

Scoring guide:

 4 pts. - Student identifies and explains benefit of all 5 features: illustrations,   title, sub-headings, captions, maps.

 3 pts. - Student identifies and explains benefit of 4 of the 5 features.

 2 pts. - Student identifies and explains benefit of 3 of the 5 features.
