- You and a friend have been given the honor of folding
the American flat at a Veteran’s Day ceremony. You realize that this has to
be done perfectly, so you both practice reading and following the directions
for folding the flag. Your teacher has instructed you to be ready to explain
the directions to someone else in case one of you cannot attend the
ceremony. Give the directions to another friend to see if he/she can follow
them.
- Today you will be watching a video clip. Think about
the ways the people in the video are reacting to the flag and the way you
and/or your family react when you salute the flag at school. Write a
paragraph that compares and contrasts the reactions of the people in the
video and your own reactions. Your paragraph must contain an effective topic
sentence, three or more supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence.
Make an appropriate graphic organizer as you prewrite.
