4 points:         Student correctly identifies 4 examples of hyperbole and gives the correct purpose for each.

3 points:   Student correctly identifies 3 examples of hyperbole and gives the correct purpose for each.

2 points:    Student correctly identifies 2 examples of hyperbole and gives the correct purpose for each.

1 point:           Student correctly identifies 1 example of hyperbole and gives the correct purpose.

Part 2

2 points:  Student correctly inserts 2 hyperboles in appropriate places.

1 point:    Student correctly inserts 1 hyperbole in an appropriate place.
