  1. Initiate discussion about authors and writing. When the author wrote Anansi and the Moss-Covered Rock, he had to plan his story. His purpose was to entertain the reader and let the reader draw a conclusion to learn a lesson.

Summative Assessment: Assign the performance event to be completed this period.

 

  1. Present a writing performance event summative project. Explain that it will be a narrative story that teaches a lesson-like Anansi and the Moss-Covered Rock.

 

  1. Review the components of a narrative story with a lesson. Review the writing process and sentence structures with subject/verb agreement and adverbs for descriptive details. Review the scoring guide for the project.

 

  1. Administer the Summative Assessment using all the sections or only those pertaining to Part III. If only for Part III, administer items 7-14 or only #14 if #7-13 is already done.
