FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT
Students are assessed through review of anecdotal records, teacher observation, and the provided revision scoring guide.
LEARNING ACTIVITIES
1. Review the endings of touchstone texts by discussing how the author concluded each text.
2. Using the overhead, revise the student narrative writing. Make the revisions directly on the overhead to show students how to do this with their own piece. Encourage questions and discuss how important re-reading is to the revision process. Point out both good writing within the piece as well as areas that need improvement.
3. After modeling, encourage students to revise their paper. Point out they will have time to go over their editing and revision with the teacher.
4. As students work, confer with them about their editing and revision. Students should do their own editing and revising.
