Before Money
Before anyone invented money, people lived by bartering. Bartering is trading one item for another. To barter, you must find someone who has something you want and they must have something you want. Then the two of you swap items, therefore each person getting what they want or need.
Bartering probably begin with the cave dwellers. It is thought that cavemen used bartering for food and weapons. Egyptian hieroglyphics showed ancient people used bartering. Even today, some people trade items they have for the goods or services they want or need.
