FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT

When the group feels it is ready to tape, they will perform it for the teacher and then with teacher approval will be taped.  Once students have had their commercial approved for taping, they should begin taping.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES

1.         Students return to the scoring guide and complete a self-check to make sure their commercial contains all of the elements for which it will be graded.

Questions

for

Students

What use is the scoring guide to you as students?

How can you use it to make sure your commercial is successful?

2.              Students practice their commercials after they have adjusted the scripts to meet the criteria on the scoring guide.  Continue to circulate to offer questions/suggestions that could improve their alignment with the scoring guide or the overall success/enjoyment of the commercial.

Suggestions

Have a quiet room set aside with videotape and camera for students to tape their commercial.

Students may make a cue card to hold up before taping begins with the name of their product and their names.  This would allow teacher to pause the tape on evaluation day to give time for scoring guide to be handed to teacher and students assigned to watching and evaluating the commercial to take down this information in their notes.

Practice and taping may happen in one to two days.
