LEARNING ACTIVITIES
1. Match definitions with propaganda techniques. Use envelopes with type and definitions separate.

2. Show pre-recorded video clip of several commercials utilizing a variety of propaganda techniques. Choose one technique and discuss/analyze other details/techniques utilized within the commercial. Distribute a sample note-taking organizer. Show how to set up the note-taking organizer for observing and recording details about the commercials. Using the graphic organizer on the board or on news print paper, model two of the following four uses: Repetition, testimonial, emotional/heart strings, bandwagon.
3. Show pre-recorded video clip of several commercials utilizing a variety of propaganda techniques. Play “Four Corners” to determine which commercials are which techniques. In groups of four, students select four magazine ads to practice note-taking and evaluating propaganda techniques.
