ROCKWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT

TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP

 

POSITION TITLE: NETWORK/COMPUTER Hardware Specialist

STATUS: Full-Time, 12 month position

REPORTS TO: Supervisor Technical Support

POSITION SUMMARY: Install and maintain all LAN Wiring Systems, New Computers and Repair of all District Computer Equipment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ability to represent Rockwood School District and the Technical Support Department in a professional manner as a contact for public and District calls.

  2. Ability to setup and maintain networking software. Ability to install and support various Microsoft products including Windows.

  3. Ability to know when a problem or issue arises beyond the scope of this position to contact the supervisor.

  4. Ability to perform multiple tasks with impeding deadlines quickly and efficiently.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Install and maintain all MS-DOS computers and associated peripherals for the entire school District using both on-site repair and depot repair.

  2. Install, troubleshoot and repair all Apple computer systems for the school District to include networking software and the operating systems.

  3. Install, troubleshoot and repair a network cabling system for the entire school District to include Level 5, and fiber optic wiring.

  4. Install, troubleshoot and repair all networking hubs throughout the school District.

  5. Installation of software products such as Windows, Word for Windows, DOS, and such on PCs.

  6. Assist Tech Support Supervisor in design, configuration and cost of networking systems for the school District.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Graduation from accredited high school.

  2. Graduation from College or Tech School with degree/certificate in computer hardware/software.

  3. Ability to demonstrate knowledge acquired through self learning of computer hardware/software in place of the above with some prior employment, experience in this field.

  4. Ability to communicate and handle people in a professional and non-threatening manner.
