Missouri Adopts Common Core State Standards
On June 15, the State Board of Education approved adoption of the Common Core State Standards in a first-of-its-kind effort to adopt common academic standards for public school students in English-language arts and mathematics.

Memo to School Administrators Outlines Transition Timeline for Common Core State Standards
Missouri is a member of a multi-state consortium which is cooperatively designing formative and summative assessments to accompany the new standards. DESE anticipates field testing in 2012-13 and the first operational implementation in 2013-14. Until such time, Missouri students will continue to take Grade-level and End-of-Course assessments aligned to Missouri's 2.0 Grade-level and Course-level expectations.
