SUBJECT: 2011-2012 Allocation Reductions
LISTSERVE MESSAGE DATE: December 13, 2011
The United States Department of Education (USED) has issued revised FY 2011 (school year 2011-2012) allocations to reflect an across-the-board reduction that Congress passed as part of a short-term continuing resolution to fund Federal programs in FY 2012. http://www2.ed.gov/about/overview/budget/news.html?src=ct
In effect, the apportionment says that an amount equal to 1.503% of the 2012 advance appropriations for Title I and Title II.A are temporarily unavailable for obligation. If Congress passes and the President signs a full-year appropriations bill that does not contain a provision that requires a cut, there would be no cut applied to the 2012 advance appropriation. If such legislation is enacted, then the temporary restriction would be lifted and the funds would be available for obligation to the States.
Because of the uncertainty of the across-the-board cuts, we have not posted the revised allocations in ePeGS. However, we do want LEAs to be aware of the potential cuts in allocations based on the continuing resolution. Revised allocations have been posted under News and Updates at http://www.dese.mo.gov/divimprove/fedprog/financialmanagement/
Although the statewide cut is just over 1 percent, allocations may vary significantly due to hold harmless amounts for each LEA. Allocation formulas for the 2011-2012 programs are available at http://www.dese.mo.gov/divimprove/fedprog/financialmanagement/Allocation%20Info.htm
