SUBJECT: NCLB Consolidated Application Substantial Approval Date

Currently, as districts are submitting their NCLB Consolidated Applications, ePeGS is giving the date submitted as the substantial approval date. This is incorrect and has been reported. Regardless of the date the application has been submitted, districts cannot receive a substantial approval date prior to July 1. Applications submitted in June will have a July 1, 2011 substantial approval date, regardless of the date shown on the budget summary page in ePeGS. July 1 is the beginning of the budget year and no substantial approval date is possible before then. After July 1, your substantial approval date should be the date that you submit your application in ePeGS.
