SUBJECT: Unexpended FY 2009 Funds under NCLB

Information regarding the availability of fiscal year 2009 funds was provided to administrators on May 27, 2011 through an Administrative Memo posted at http://www.dese.mo.gov/am/fas/documents/FAS-11-015.pdf. The period of availability for funds made available for fiscal year 2009 is drawing to a close. Even though funds don’t have to be expended until September 30, 2011, we are striving for expenditures/obligations by June 30, 2011. In order for the Department to expend these funds in their entirety, Districts with remaining balances under Title I.A ARRA, Title I.D LEA ARRA, Title I School Improvement (a) ARRA, Title II.D ARRA, Title II.D and Title IV.A are asked to submit the form Request Form to Release NCLB ARRA and/or Title II.D & Title IV.A by June 15, 2011 in order for the Department to reallocate funds.
Although Districts must follow the Cash Management Improvement Act (CMIA), we encourage Districts to draw down funds as they are expended.
