Federal Programs Update; July 29, 2008 1. Federal Programs Conference September 7-9, 2008 Tar-Tar-A Resort, Osage Beach, Missouri Registration information is now available at http://dese.mo.gov/divimprove/fedprog for the fall Federal Programs Conference on September 7-9, 2008 at Tan-Tar-A Resort, Osage Beach, MO. Federal programs leaders and school administrators are encouraged to attend. Topics to be covered include accountability, monitoring, Core Data, planning, migrant & ELL students, and financial management, along with many other areas of interest. The conference brochure contains the agenda and the registration form. Complete the registration form and return it to us by fax at 573.526.6698. Registration deadline is Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Call Tan-Tar-A at 800.826.8272, 573.348.3131 or visit http://www.tan-tar-a.com . Indicate that you are attending the DESE Federal Programs Conference when making your reservation in order to receive the group rate of $90.64. The room block will be held until August 4, 2008. If you have any questions contact Donna Cash at donna.cash@dese.mo.gov or 573.526.5658. 2. 2008-2009 Consolidated Federal Programs Application Although most districts have already submitted, the 2008-2009 Consolidated Federal Programs Application is available on our webpage at http://dese.mo.gov/divimprove/fedprog/grantmgmnt/ . Please remember to submit your district’s application with all of the required components, as soon as possible, to receive a substantial approval date that will allow you to obligate funds. You cannot obligate funds before your substantial approval date. If you have any questions contact your Grants Management Supervisor. 3. Changes in Federal Grants Management Staff Sandy Swann has left Grants Management after 17+ years in Federal Programs. Julie Cowell, formerly of the Southeast region, will be taking Sandy’s Northeast/Central districts. I know Julie will do a great job.
