SUBJECT:  2014 Conference on the Young Years

Conference on the Young Years is a Department sponsored conference for Pre-K to 3rd grade teachers and paraprofessionals as well as parent educators and school administrators, it would be allowable to use Title I funds for Title I Pre-school teachers and paraprofessionals to attend this conference.


The 41st Annual Conference on the Young Years (CYY) will be held March 6-8, 2014, at Tan-Tar-A.  This year’s theme is Leadership Begins with Play.  CYY is a statewide early childhood conference that provides many presentations from leading early learning professionals including:

  • Mark Anthony Garrett
  • Gaye Gronlund
  • David Harrison
  • The Learning Station

Not only will you get the opportunity to hear these keynoters, but you will be able to attend several of their breakout sessions, as well.   We have planned a variety of presentations to meet the needs of those attending the conference. Of course, we have some of your favorite featured speakers returning this year.  Stay tuned as we finalize all the details of the conference!

This year’s conference will include presentations from the St. Louis Zoo, Missouri Department of Conservation, and the Magic House.  Participants will have access to such topics as:

  • Technology in Early Learning;
  • Early Learning Goals and the Missouri Learning Standards;
  • DESE’s recommended school readiness tool;
  • PAT support of the Foundational Curriculum;
  • DESE programs and information on blending early learning funds; and
  • Infant/toddler sessions, to name a few.

CYY is approved by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for child care clock hours.

Pre-Conference (Thursday) - $70
Conference (Friday-Saturday) - $140

Lodging - $86 per night
