This is an annual reminder that in 1999 the Missouri Legislature passed
Section 170.132 RSMo. which included a provision for public elementary,
secondary, and post-secondary schools to give preference to vendors which
provide educational materials in Braille or electronic formats approved by
DESE.
The DESE-approved formats are described in a document contained at
http://www.dese.mo.gov/divspeced/Blind/brailleguidelines.html. Affected
schools should use this guideline document when considering the purchase of
instructional materials. |
