Assessment

Intended Audience: School administrators, parents, and special education
stakeholders
Date: March 20, 2006
The State Board of Education heard a report on March 16, 2006, regarding the
preliminary recommendations of the High School Assessment Committee, a
statewide group that has been meeting for the past year. The committee is
proposing that DESE replace the high school MAP tests with a college-entry
exam such as the ACT or SAT.
Beginning April 12, DESE will conduct a series of seven regional meetings to
discuss the preliminary recommendations of the High School Assessment
Committee. Stan Johnson, Assistant Commissioner for the Division of School
Improvement, will lead the discussion at each of these meetings. The
schedule for these regional meetings is posted on DESE's website at
http://dese.mo.gov/divimprove/highschoolassessmentmeetings.pdf.
DESE will compile the feedback received at the regional meetings and plans
to share with the State Board of Education in May.
Please share this message and the meeting schedule with anyone who may be
interested in attending one of the meetings. |
