Subject: Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO) Data Submissions

Intended Audience: Early Childhood Special Education Directors and SPOE Directors

In September 2006, the Division of Special Education conducted regional workshops to train First Steps program providers and Early Childhood Special Education providers on the process for collecting and reporting data regarding early childhood outcomes (ECO).  This reporting requirement from the U. S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), is designed to report performance data for young children receiving services through Parts B and C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  Information about these trainings can be found at the following website: http://dese.mo.gov/divspeced/ECOtraining.html.  This website also includes the data collection spreadsheet that MUST be used to submit the data to DESE.
