Governor Matt Blunt signed Senate Bill 500 into law on June 24, 2005, creating two new requirements for First Steps that will directly impact families participating in First Steps. The following documents will provide families with information on:
Mandated Insurance Coverage for Certain First Steps Services (pdf)
Family Cost Participation Fees (pdf)

Parent Connections (pdf) - A periodic newsletter for parents of First Steps children.

First Steps Annual Report, FY07 (pdf) - An annual look at the First Steps program and what it offers (.pdf file).

First Steps Belief Statements - A summary of First Steps beliefs and what you can expect from the First Steps program.

Parent Handbook (pdf) - A 91-page document designed to assist parents "in organizing all of the information you receive about your child.  It will help you with dates and times, doctor appointments, medical information, and other pieces of information that need to be shared with a lot of different people as you participate in First Steps" (.pdf file).

Guidance Letters - A list of letters of guidance written by Employees of the Division of Special Education to service providers, service coordinators, and others to clarify given issues or problems (see specifically: "Eligibility Determination Procedures" and "Determining Service Needs...").

General Information Brochure (pdf) - A 2-page document giving general contact information, describing the goals of First Steps, summarizing eligibility information, and dictating how families find out if their child is eligible for First Steps services (.pdf file).
