The Missouri Assistive Technology (MOAT) Advisory Council will be hosting a session on "Make the Curriculum Accessible to Struggling Students" on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at MOAT, 1501 NW Jefferson Street, Blue Springs, Missouri.

Marci Butler, senior outside educational support specialist from Don Johnston Incorporated, will host a session covering new technologies and resources aimed at delivering accessible instructional materials to students who struggle with print text as well as tools that transition from reading to writing. A focus on how digital text can help students overcome barriers, in addition to information on how to use Read:OutLoud will be made available.  Research presented will cover all aspects of writing including pre-writing, drafts, editing, and revising using Draft:Builder, Write:OutLoud, and Co:Writer.

Participation in this event will give a deeper understanding of how assistive technology is being implemented successfully (or not) for diverse initiatives and give participants an opportunity to learn about a variety of implementation frameworks.  To attend, RSVP with John Effinger at (816) 228-6595 or via email at john.effinger@att.net.  Attendance is free, but space is limited.
