Licensed as a registered nurse in
Experience with
pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
Primarily responsible for the
school health services provided to students attending the State School(s)
served.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The incumbent must have the
ability to perform the essential functions below either with or without
reasonable accommodations.
Coordinate and implement a plan for health screenings.
Coordinate, design and implement special health care
procedures.
Provide training on lifting techniques, basic first
aid, infection control procedures, dispensing medication, CPR, and other
in-service as needed.
Follow proper nursing procedures and maintain
appropriate documentation.
Seek out and use community health service resources.
Participate in staffings and
Utilize each student’s individual communication
system.
Accept supervision, cooperate with change and be
flexible.
Treat all persons with respect and maintain positive
interpersonal relationships.
Take a leadership role in developing and implementing
a comprehensive school health plan.
Maintain confidentiality of parent, student, and staff
personal identifiable information.
Accurately complete required reports on or before
established deadlines.
Communicate effectively in both oral and written
forms, using correct grammar, punctuation, clarity and consistency of thought.
Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an
orderly, attractive, safe, clean environment.
Maintain CPR training Instructor certification.
Follow policies and guidelines of the State Schools
program.
ADDITIONAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lift and move 50 pounds to include assisting in
changing positions of students.
Perform the daily self-care of students as needed and
assigned. (i.e., diapering, feeding,
hand washing, tooth brushing, etc.)
Participate in minimum of one staff development
activity per year to keep nursing skills updated and current.
Maintain a portfolio.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Itinerant travel may be assigned as needed.
Infrequent travel for training and staff
meetings. Reasonable and necessary
travel expenses will be reimbursed at approved rates.
