How can a teacher’s certificate of license to teach be disciplined?
The Missouri State Board of Education may refuse to issue or renew, or may suspend or revoke a certificate of license to teach if an individual has pleaded or been found guilty of a felony or crime involving moral turpitude whether or not sentence is imposed; upon evidence that the certificate was obtained by fraud, deception, misrepresentation or bribery; upon evidence of incompetence, immorality or neglect of duty; or if the certificate holder is subject to discipline in another state.
Can I receive a certificate of license to teach if I have a felony conviction in my past?
In order for you to receive a certificate of license to teach after a felony conviction, your application must be brought before and unanimously approved by the State Board of Education. For information about this process contact Conduct and Investigations at 573-522-8315.
Am I subject to disciplinary action if I resign at my school district and take a position at another school district?
If you break a written contract, the school district may ask the State Board of Education to revoke your certificate of license to teach.
