Afterschool Approved Programs
The Department receives three sources of funding for Afterschool programs which are then made available to the local level through a competitive or needs-based grant award process:
- School Age Community (SAC)
- 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)
- Afterschool Retreat Reading and Assessment Grant Program
The purposes and requirements for these three grants vary, but all have common themes of keeping school-age youth safe and engaged while providing tutoring and enrichment opportunities that youth may not get during the regular school day. Below is a brief explanation of each grant program and currently funded programs.
