Grade Point Average Required for Certification
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 28, 2003
Candidates for initial certification and for each additional area of endorsement, must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; both overall and in the content area.
The Office of Teacher Certification uses the following procedure to determine the eligibility of a candidate:
The GPA is computed by dividing total quality points by the total semester hours attempted. "Totals" includes all coursework attempted from all colleges attended.
- A higher grade earned in a course that was repeated at the same institution will replace the first grade in the computation.
- Credits earned with a "Pass/Fail" grade are not counted.
- If transcripts include quarter hours: I quarter hour = .67 semester hours.
