High School Students to Participate in
Consumer Education Competition
Six teams of Missouri high school students will be competing March 2 in a consumer education state competition titled LifeSmarts. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison St., Jefferson City.
LifeSmarts, a program of the National Consumers League, tests teens in grades 9-12 about personal finance, health and safety, the environment, technology, and consumer rights and responsibilities.
Teams from the following high schools recently won the Missouri LifeSmarts online competition and are now finalists in the state competition:
- California High School, Moniteau County R-I School District
- Clopton High School, Pike County School District (2 Teams)
- Couch High School
- Maysville High School
- Osage High School, School of the Osage School District
The Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and American Century Investments of Kansas City sponsor the state competition.
The winning team will advance to the national LifeSmarts competition April 16-19 at San Francisco, Calif. American Century Investments of Kansas City will sponsor the state winning team at the national competition.
