"Missouri Service Day" Slated at Capitol

More than 500 elementary and secondary students and teachers from around the state will convene at the Capitol Wednesday (April 26) for "Missouri Service Day."

The purpose of the 10th annual event is to recognize the achievements of individuals providing service to their communities and to inform legislators of Missouri’s service-learning programs. Participants in the Learn and Serve Missouri grant and school-based service-learning programs will meet with their legislators in the Capitol and tour the Governor’s Mansion and other historical sites.

An awards ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Carnahan Memorial Gardens. The awards will be presented by legislators and staff of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Missouri Service-Learning Advisory Council.
