About the Charter Transition Office

Missouri Baptist University (MBU) informed the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in March 2012 that it will no longer serve as the sponsor for charter schools in St. Louis. As a result, under Missouri law (State Statute 160.400 14), the Missouri State Board of Education became the interim sponsor of the schools.

At its April 17, 2012, meeting, the State Board voted to revoke the charters for Imagine Academy of Academic Success (115-907), Imagine Academy of Careers (115-908) and Imagine Academy of Environment Science and Math (115-909). Therefore, the current 2011-2012 school year will be the final year for these schools and the charter will end on June 30, 2012.

The Carondelet Leadership Academy will remain open under the sponsorship of the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Education. No changes need to be made for children attending the Carondelet Leadership Academy.

The Department has established a Charter Transition Office in St. Louis to ensure that all students from the Imagine Schools that are closing successfully transition to other schools for the 2012-2013 school year starting in August 2012.

Information on the transition will be updated on this website. For additional assistance, please call (toll-free) 866-791-4715 or email
