SUBJECT:  HUD Webinar – December 20, 2011 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. CT

LISTSERVE MESSAGE DATE:  December 19, 2011

HUD is conducting a 90 minute live rebroadcast of its webinar that introduces its Homeless Definition Final Rule and new at-risk of homeless definition.  As states and LEAs are increasing their collaboration with HUD programs, this webinar will provide important information and background needed to understanding this collaboration.

This webinar will provide a comprehensive introduction to HUD’s Homeless Definition Final Rule and the new at-risk of homelessness definition included in the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program Final Rule.  These definitions must be adhered to when screening potential participants for ESG assistance, as well as assistance provided by HUD Supportive Housing Program (SHP) and Shelter Plus Care (SPC) program recipients with new or renewal projects starting on or after January 1, 2012.

The webinar will review how to determine housing status (homeless, at-risk of homelessness), income and disability, as well as a general review of related record-keeping requirements and documentation standards needed by HUD.  This webinar will NOT cover details specific to potential participant eligibility under each ESG component or to SHP or the SPC program, nor the specific documentation requirements related to each housing status and income type.  More detailed training on documentation requirements will be covered during a later webinar.  This webinar is limited to 1,000 participants and there are no prerequisites for this webinar.

The Ready, SET, Go! webinar series is sponsored by HUD's Office of Special Needs Assistance Programs (SNAPs).  All webinar presentations and accompanying materials will be available on HUD’s Homelessness Resource Exchange (HRE).
